Tom Brown, Ed.D., has enjoyed a 50 year career as a choral music director in the public school, university and church. From 1992 he served large churches in St. Louis, MO and at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Austin, TX, where he supervised a music ministry including over 12 choirs and ensembles in four services each Sunday. Prior to that he was on the choral and voice faculty of the University of Southern MS, Hattiesburg. Tom is a published choral arranger and pianist. Tom has a BM in music from LSU, a masters degree from U. of LA, Monroe, and holds a doctorate in choral music education from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. Tom reports that accompanying and encouraging congregational singing is one of his most pleasurable activities. Since 2018 Tom and his wife Ann, a retired speech/language pathologist, have been enjoying retirement in New Orleans. Tom plays regularly at Aurora United Methodist Church and has enjoyed “subbing” in churches in the New Orleans area.
